The Mid-Hudson News reports that security guards at Poughkeepsie High School, alerted to a 19-year-old attempting to bring a handgun into the school, found the handgun in his backpack on May 14. Security guards held Quentin Wiggins, his backpack, and the gun until police arrived. The school was placed on lockdown. Police would not say if Wiggins is a student at the school. There was also a lockdown at Ichabod Crane primary school in Columbia County May 14. Principal Andrea Williams wrote on Twitter that, "The Primary School had an unscheduled Fire Drill today due to a student pulling the alarm. The students were outside for a brief amount of time before the Fire Chief and SRO cleared the students and staff to re-enter the building. The school day continued as normal."
