Teachout is running for attorney general

May 24, 2018 12:22 pm
Rachel Silberstein reports in the Albany Times Union that Fordham Law professor Zephyr Teachout will run for attorney general. Teachout previously lost to Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for governor in 2014, and John Faso in a Congressional election in District 19 in 2016. New York City Public Advocate Tish James and Leecia Eve, a former aide to Hillary Clinton and Cuomo, have already announced they are running for the post. New York Solicitor General, Barbara D. Underwood, was appointed to serve as attorney general May 22 after the abrupt resignation of Eric Schneiderman a few weeks ago. James was endorsed by Cuomo this week, and won 85 percent of the vote at the Democrats convention on Long Island May 23. Eve received nine percent of that vote, and Teachout got around five percent. "I think it's incredibly important that the next attorney general be independent and be willing to take on corruption in Albany," Teachout said. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
