Aka Saga, Part 1: AKAKLAKLAK—Return from Death
1990
Pekka Siren, Agnieszka Waligorska
A fascinating blend of the mythological past and technological present: the story of the woman Aka and her man Kala, both members of the fish clan, and their enemies, the people of the reindeer clan. When Kala is killed by the reindeer clan, Aka swears revenge and Kala's soul promises to return "gliding as a bird, riding with the wind, carried by the night." A meticulously researched radiophonic mythology, AKAKLAKLAK makes use of the human voice and ancient musical instruments, such as amber rattlers, straw brushes, and wooden pellet bells. It is presented in Finnish with introduction in English. A commission of Yleisradio, Finland.
