Rick Moriarty is reporting at syracuse [dot] com New York state license plates with peeling numbers may present a challenge for the state Thruway's new cashless tolling system. Sophisticated equipment will take numerous high-definition photos, from different angles, of the front and rear plates of all vehicles passing under the gantries. If needed, the images can be further analyzed and enhanced to better see the plate. “Motorists should be fully aware of their responsibility to have clean and visible plates, and the New York State Police will enforce these vehicle traffic laws,” a Thruway Authority spokesperson said. The Department of Motor Vehicles will replace, at no cost, license plates that are peeling. Read the full story at syracuse [dot] com.
