TV reporter says he was assaulted by Heastie aide

Michael Williams is reporting for the Times Union CBS6 television reporter Greg Floyd has claimed he was repeatedly assaulted by an unidentified member of state Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie's staff at the Capitol Tue., Jan. 7. Heastie's office has denied the allegation. "A first for me covering the Assembly at the state Capitol," Floyd tweeted Tuesday. "I was repeatedly assaulted by this man as I tried to interview Speaker Carl Heastie." A photo attached to the tweet shows an unidentified man holding Heastie's arm with his right hand, with a CBS-6 microphone in the frame. Nothing in the picture indicates the man touched Floyd. Heastie spokesman Michael Whyland described Floyd's description as "absurd" and "ridiculous." He denied Floyd was assaulted and accused the WRGB reporter of "over-exaggerating."
