Greene County tops state in job growth

The Mid-Hudson News Network is reporting Greene County has experienced the largest percentage of new jobs in both the Hudson Valley and the entire state, the state Labor Department announced Thurs., Nov. 20. Greene County reported 3.1 percent in job growth during the 12-month period ending in October. Columbia County was ranked second in the region and third in the state with an increase of 2.4 percent. Ulster County had a 1.3 percent boost in new jobs, while the Dutchess-Orange metropolitan statistical area saw 0.6 percent. Employment gains were strongest in leisure and hospitality followed by educational and health services, and other services. Job losses were centered in natural resources, mining and construction, and manufacturing.
