And the chosen candidate will be able to run as an outsider, bringing his or her own money to the campaign. "We had a great meeting with successful GOP operatives from around the state and discussed the importance of a unified big-tent party that can win in 2018," new Manhattan Republican Chairwoman Andrea Catsimatidis said. According to sources who attended the event at the Women’s National Republican Club, the consensus was the party's best bet in 2018 is business consultant Harry Wilson. Wilson has told party leaders that he would use $10 million of his own money for the campaign and has begun touring the state. He is expected to decide about running sometime this month. In addition to Wilson, potential GOP gubernatorial candidates are Senate Deputy Majority Leader John DeFrancisco, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb. Gov.
