Emilia Teasdale reports in the Columbia Paper that a proposed law banning sidewalk bike riding on Main St. in Valatie has been tabled by the village board. At the August village board meeting there was discussion of complaints about bike riders, but a month later Mayor Diane Argyle said that there has been “no other comment from any one else in the village about the bike law.” Argyle asked the board to table a public hearing on the proposed law. But it may return. Randall Schmit, president of the Valatie Economic Redevelopment Association, said that the bike issue has “gotten a lot better.” But he was planning to speak with local business owners to find more issues with bike riders in Valatie.
