Many solar farms planned for Greenville

Audrey Matott at The Greenville Pioneer reports that four solar farm projects are now, or about to be, before the Greenville Planning Board. There is a two-megawatt Freehold community solar project at 9775-9873 State Route 32, the Amberjack Solar project at 10200-10225 State Route 32, and new projects at 227 East Mill Road and on State Route 81. Town Attorney Tal Rappleyea told the board they need to look at how so many similar projects will impact Greenville. "There is a thing in the SEQRA that says segmentation is a no-no. You shouldn't just look at the very limited impacts of this potential project when you know that there are other projects and they may have a cumulative impact," he said at a Dec. 6 planning board meeting. The board gave the solar developers an extension until February, and they said they would revisit the issue at the Jan. 3 meeting.
