Greene Co. lawmakers seek contract flexibility

Kyle Adams is reporting in The Daily Mail the Government Operations Committee of the Greene County Legislature Tues., Feb. 18, proposed a local law that would allow for greater flexibility in awarding contracts for goods and services. The law would shift the deciding criteria in awarding a bid from lowest responsible bid to “best value,” which could include considerations of “quality, reliability, maintenance, useful lifespan and performance,” according to the law. Greene County Attorney Carol Stevens said the new law allows the county to take into consideration a number of factors that standard New York state procurement law does not allow. If the law is approved by the full Legislature Wed., Feb. 19, a public hearing will be held March 19. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
