Ancram proposed budget includes tax .99 percent decrease

Nov 14, 2018 12:13 am
Richard Moody from Columbia-Greene Media reports that increased sales tax revenues are allowing Ancram town officials to propose a 2019 budget with a 0.99 percent tax decrease. Citizens can give their input on the budget at 6:45 Nov. 15 at the Ancram Town Hall on Route 7. “Salaries will increase about 1 1/2 to 2 percent this year,” Town Supervisor Art Bassin said. “Benefits are going up about 5 to 6 percent. And I believe retirement benefits decreased this year.” But the budget only gives the Roeliff Jansen Community Library $10,000 more than last year, while the other towns that share the facility, Copake and Hillsdale, pitch in $55,000 and $42,000, respectively. According to the library, 548 town residents with Mid-Hudson Library System cards list the Roeliff Jansen Community Library as their home library. Ancram received $320,000 in sales tax revenue this year, and is projecting $300,000 in next year’s budget. Read the full story at HudsonValley360.com.
