The Marina Abramović Institute raised its $600,000 Kickstarter goal, according to a Twitter announcement Thu., Aug. 22. "We are thrilled to announce the Marina Abramović Institute Kickstarter has been fully funded!" the Twitter statement said. The online fundraising began July 27, and the performance artist did all sorts of publicity for the campaign, including hosting a nude Lady Gaga video shoot at her Columbia County retreat. Abramović has now raised over $2 million of $20 million (about 10 percent) needed to open the Marina Abramović Institute, a performance and education center, in Hudson in 2015. So far the proposed center looks unimproved at 6th 7th St. and Columbia St. in Hudson, next to a WGXC studio.
