Pothole portal bill on Cuomo's desk

Dec 27, 2018 12:00 pm
Chad Arnold is reporting for the Poughkeepsie Journal Gov. Andrew Cuomo has until Dec. 30, to approve or veto a bill that would require the state to create an interactive website where potholes along all state-maintained roads, including the state Thruway system, could be reported and tracked. If the measure is signed into law, drivers would be able to request notifications for when the pothole is repaired. The so-called pothole portal would allow motorists to assist the state Department of Transportation in locating potholes, making it easier for the department to allocate resources for repair. The state currently has a telephone hotline to report issues on state-maintained roads — 1-800-POTHOLE, but the new legislation would supplement that repair line with a new website and interactive map. If signed, the legislation would take effect in 120 days. "The bill is under review," said Jason Conwall, a spokesman for Cuomo. Read the full story in the Poughkeepsie Journal.
