Districts establish drop-off locations for absentee ballots
Jun 05, 2020 5:45 am
Parry Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper voters in the Chatham, Hudson and Ichabod Crane school districts will have two ways to cast their ballots in the school budget vote and school board election June 9. All voters must use absentee ballots forms to return marked ballots by mail. Both the Chatham and Hudson districts encountered complications when the company that was printing and mailing the blank ballots was delayed by what the Hudson website described as supply shortages. Ichabod Crane said all its ballots went out on time. The Chatham and Hudson districts say all ballot forms have now been sent to eligible voters. But the delay will make it difficult for some voters to return the marked ballots to district clerks by 5 p.m. Tuesday. So all three districts will set up locked drop-off points for absentee ballot curbside drop off. For Chatham district voters this will take place Mon., June 8, from noon to 7 p.m. and Tue., June 9, from 7 a.m. at 5 p.m. at the Mary E. Dardess Elementary School. In the Hudson district, completed ballots can be delivered between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mon., June 8 or Tue., June 9 at the event entrance to Hudson Jr/Sr High School; the former John L. Edwards School; city of Hudson Central Fire Station; A.B. Shaw Firehouse in Claverack; and, Greenport Community Center. In the Ichabod Crane district ballots can be mailed or dropped off at the Central Office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily before the deadline of 5 p.m. Tue., June 9. Ballots must be in the possession of district officials by the deadline to be counted. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
