Busy Germantown meeting Dec. 1

Nov 23, 2016 12:05 am
Debby Mayer reports in The Columbia Paper that the Germantown Planning Board is busy, but also on a holiday schedule. The board will not meet on Nov. 24 or Dec. 29, but has a large meeting planned for Dec. 1, with a site plans for a retail establishment on Main Street and a added apartment on the former Germantown Variety store building. The proposed Dollar General retail store on Route 9G probably will not be on that agenda, as Primax Properties is still preparing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. “The timeline is theirs,” Planning Board Chairman Stephen Reynolds said. “There is no deadline. I think it’s unlikely they’ll have the DEIS for the December 1 meeting. The earliest would be our meeting on January 26.” The planning board's business is a sign of Germantown's growth, Reynolds said. “It’s partly because Hudson has so few empty storefronts, and the rents there are high,” he said. “But Germantown has limited room for development on Main Street, and it’s filling up.” Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
