Uninsured rates fall locally

Todd Kehoe reports in The Albany Business Review that the Affordable Care Act has reduced the number of uninsured people in the Capital Region over the past few years according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Greene County changed from a 13 percent uninsured rate in 2010 to an 8.9 percent rate in 2014, and a 6.9 percent in 2015. Columbia County improved from 13.3 percent uninsured in 2010 to 8.9 percent in 2014 and 7.2 percent in 2015. The Albany Business Review also reports that Albany County improved from 10.2 percent to 5.5 percent; Rensselaer County moved from 10.8 percent to 5.2 percent; and Schoharie County went from 12.1 percent to 6.2 percent from 2010 to 2015.
