Gibson will not renew anti-tax pledge

The Associated Press is reporting a spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson says the congressman, who supported an anti-tax pledge as a candidate, will not sign the same pledge when his new term begins. Gibson, a Republican, represented the 20th Congressional District when he signed the pledge championed by conservative anti-tax advocate Grover Norquist. On January 1, Gibson will represent the newly created 19th District. Gibson's spokeswoman Stephanie Valle said Gibson still stands in opposition to raising tax rates for individuals or businesses.
