Employers must implement anti-harassment training soon

Corina Cappabianca is reporting for News10-Albany the deadline for employers in New York to provide anti-harassment training for their employees is rapidly approaching. The deadline for the state-mandated anti-training is October 9. Laws that expand protections for victims of domestic violence in the workplace and end discrimination based on religious attire were signed into law in 2018. The most significant change imposed this year was in the definition of what is considered sexual harassment. Under the new law, which goes into effect October 19, the standard for conduct to be defined as sexual harassment has changed. One expert noted that state laws on harassment and discrimination tend to change faster than federal laws, so it is important for employers and business owners to stay on top of the subject.
