Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Scenic Hudson has announced it recently acquired 24 acres of land in New Baltimore, with the potential to expand trails in the 76-acre Long View Park. Long View was created by the environmental advocacy group in collaboration with the New Baltimore Conservancy. Scenic Hudson Land Conservation Director Seth McKee declined to comment on the purchase price of the land, but he said the organization received financial assistance from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to help with the acquisition, as part of a three-year grant to conserve land to adapt for climate change. “We applaud Scenic Hudson for taking the initiative to complete the puzzle on connectivity between the riverfront, the historic Armstrong farm and the hamlet,” New Baltimore Conservancy President Carol Melewski said in a statement. “I also want to recognize our tireless volunteers for all they have done that has made this important day possible.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
