The number of new COVID-19 cases announced locally daily has been falling, but the numbers of death announced each day can be startling. For instance, Dutchess County reported six more deaths from COVID-19 Feb. 7, while Ulster County reported 64 new coronavirus cases there. Columbia County reported 20 new COVID-19 cases Feb. 6, while Greene County reported 15. There were 43 new cases of COVID-19 announced in Rensselaer County Feb. 7, and the pair of twins who caught the coronavirus at three-days-old have "recovered and been cleared," Rensselaer County officials said. Albany County added 101 new positive tests of the virus on Feb. 7.
