Nixon releases tax returns; grossed more than $1M for acting in 2017
Jimmy Vielkind is reporting for Politico New York Democratic gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon made more than $1 million as an actor in 2017, a review of her tax returns shows. Nixon May 4, released several hundred pages of tax documents related to her family, a family foundation and The Fickle Mermaid Corporation, a company set up to handle payments related to her acting work. Fickle Mermaid reported gross earnings in 2017 of more than $1,000,000, and paid $400,000 in wages to Nixon. The wages and profits from Fickle Mermaid provided the bulk of the income for Nixon, her wife Christine Marinoni and their children. The family's adjusted gross income for 2017 was $619,800, higher than either Cuomo, with $212,776, or Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, the leading Republican candidate, who reported $174,048 of adjusted gross income. The couple paid $150,600 in federal taxes, $40,272 in New York State taxes, $22,594 in New York City income tax and $28,331 in city property taxes on their Manhattan residence.
