The Mid-Hudson News Network and the Daily Freeman are reporting, according to the New York State Bridge Authority, traffic and revenue on the agency's five Hudson River crossings were higher in the first five months of 2019 than during the same period in 2018. Overall traffic was up 1.64 percent, from 24.92 million vehicle crossings between January through May last year to 25.33 million this year. Revenue rose by 1.22 percent, from $22.89 million in 2018 to $23.17 million so far this year. For the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, which links Greene and Columbia counties, traffic and revenue gains were 0.8 percent and 1.12 percent, respectively. The largest increase among the five crossings was on the Bear Mountain Bridge, with 2.88 percent more traffic and 3.16 percent more revenue. Bear Mountain, ceremonially named the Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge, links Rockland and Orange counties and Westchester and Putnam counties. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
