Freehold gets helipad for medical evacuations

Dec 09, 2019 12:32 am
Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that the Freehold Fire House now has a helipad for medical evacuations, the first in the area. “It’s close to Greenville, East Durham and Freehold,” Freehold Fire Chief Wade Davis said. “When EMS calls for a landing zone, it is set up immediately.” Previously helicopters were forced to land in the field next to the firehouse, but there is now a 2,500-square-foot layer of blacktop for landings. Currently medical evacuations also take place at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Catskill, the Catskill Elks Lodge parking lot in Catskill, Windham Mountain, and Hunter Mountain.
