Aug 20, 2018 6:15 am
William J. Kemble is reporting for the Daily Freeman the Dutchess County Fair begins its annual six-day run August 21. The fair will be in operation 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at the 147-acre county fairgrounds on U.S. Route 9. The event is the second-largest agricultural fair in the state. “Agriculture is at the heart of the Dutchess County Fair,” officials wrote in a press release. “It is the reason the Dutchess County Agricultural Society was formed in the 1800s and it is still as important ... now as it was then.” Fair organizers expect displays and competitions to draw more than 300 dairy cows, 70 beef cows, 200 sheep, 170 goats and 500 poultry class birds, as well as rabbits, hogs, llamas, alpacas and horses. Attractions will also include the Northeast Lumberjack Competition, including ax throwing, cross-cut sawing, speed ax chopping and hot-saw modified chainsaws. Grandstand concerts will feature The Wallflowers, an already-sold out Kane Brown performance, Kip Moore and the Little Creek Bank. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
