Catskill schools, buildings closed

The Times Union is reporting the Catskill Central School District canceled classes Thu., May 23, due to a water-main break. It is not clear where the burst pipe is located or how long it will take to make repairs and reopen the schools. The school district is reporting on its Facebook page that as a result of the closure, the elementary school's spring concert will be presented June 5. All athletic events are canceled because of the anticipated thunderstorm, and the sectional variety baseball game will be played at 4 p.m., Fri., May 24. Also, the Greene County office building, at 411 Main St. and the Veterans Service Agency, at 159 Jefferson Heights closed at noon May 23, and were scheduled to reopen during normal hours May 24. The Highway Department building was reported closed at one point, but actually remained open.
