Off-duty Troy police officer shoots, kills man during alleged stabbing

Bethany Bump reports in the Times Union that an off-duty police officer shot and killed a man who was allegedly stabbing his wife on July 30. The police officer lived in the apartment below the couple, and fired a shotgun after allegedly telling the man “several times” to drop the knife and stop. None of the names of the people involved were released by police, but the deceased was 26, and the woman was 25, and in critical condition after the incident.
