Adam Clayton writes in the Register Star more than 100 people packed into Clinton Town Hall Tues., May 13, to hear from National Grid on the subject of a proposed power line expansion, part of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Energy Highway initiative. The event was organized by Clinton Concerned Citizens and the Clinton Town Board, Scenic Hudson, the Olana Partnership and Farmers and Families for Claverack and Livingston. A representative from Assembly member Didi Barrett's district office said they receive regular calls from companies interested in investing in Columbia County, but are concerned about property values plummeting from the expansion. The suggestion was also made to bury 50 out of the 153 miles of A/C power lines. Attendees were urged to communicate their dissatisfaction with the proposal and to keep the pressure on the state Public Service Commission and Cuomo's office.
