New red, EM license plates to be issued

Apr 04, 2014 8:55 am
Rick Karlin is reporting at Capitol Confidential motorists will soon see a new colored license plate on some vehicles on New York roads. A red and white Emergency Management license plate will be issued to first responder agencies. The plates will not be available to volunteers such as firefighters or others for use on personal vehicles, however. They will be made available for select vehicles that are owned, registered or operated by state or local governments. The new plates will have a white background and a red banner with the “EM” designation appearing in the upper left hand corner. The name of the state agency or the political subdivision and its county of primary use will also be displayed on the plate. They will also carry a new Emergency Management indicator for quick identification. Read the full story at Capitol Confidential, a Times Union blog.
