Olana Audio Tour

The Olana Partnership is working to expand tour options and audience engagement through the introduction of free digital audio tours. These tours are available anywhere in the world, or while you explore on-site at Olana. The work is part of a new digital humanities effort initiated by the Education Department of The Olana Partnership to make collections more available to the public. There are now four different tours in the suite of offerings.

1) Olana’s Historic Landscape Digital Audio Tour (Time: 45:08)
Online visitors can learn about the history and ongoing historic restoration of Olana’s artist designed landscape, while you learn a myriad of facts you will be inspired on Church’s many historic carriage roads performed by local actors Leigh Strimbeck and Paul Ricciardi.

2) F.E. Church’s Letters & 19th Century Ballads (Time: 57:39)
Listeners can hear local artist Brian Dewan read excerpts from Church’s letters accompanied by 19th century popular tunes.

3) The Churches Middle Eastern Adventure
These two new audio tours are performed by local actors Ann Undeland & Jim Frangione:

  • Part #1: Letters written by Frederic Church 1868-1869 (Time: 66:50)
  • Part #2: Diary written by Isabel Church 1868-1869 (Time: 44:44)
  • The Olana Partnership wishes to thank Wave Farm/WGXC for making the audio recording possible and for Henri Scars Struck for donating his original score and Illusha Tsinazde & Company for sharing the music for the Middle Eastern tour. Copyright TOP 2018.
