On "@Issue" with host Victor Mendolia Wed., Aug. 1 on WGXC, Hudson Common Council president Don Moore said he wanted more information and details from the Galvan Foundation about the latest proposal for homeless housing in Hudson. "Galvan Quarters" is the name of the new proposal for emergency and transitional housing at Seventh and State streets (full disclosure: one block away from WGXC's Hudson studio). Moore was a guest along with Columbia County Supervisors Sarah Sterling and Ellen Thurston on the WGXC show with the Hudson Democrat chairman who is also host. On Wed., Aug. 1, Tom Casey and Nathan Mayberg in the Register-Star, reported that state funding for the proposed Civic Hudson housing/police and court facility had been denied. They also reported that the Galvan Foundation had a different story. “They (Galvan Foundation) have no knowledge at this time of the Civic Hudson project not being funded, but at this point it is not really relevant, since they have chosen to transfer all the (housing) interest over to the Seventh Street facility and go into the new direction on Fourth and Columbia,” said Fifth Ward Supervisor and Galvan Associate Rick Scalera Tuesday.
