The Albany Times Union reports that New Yorkers are optimistic about the economy, according to a new poll. The Siena College Research Institute's poll show's the state's Index of Consumer Sentiment was up 4.4 percent from the second quarter. But at 93.6, New York trails the national index of 100.1. Consumers, the poll found, are not that concerned about rising gas prices. "New Yorkers remain bullish about the economy and their personal finances this quarter as the index rose by over four points," said Doug Lonnstrom, professor of statistics and finance at Siena College and the institute's founding director. "Driving the strength of the index is increasing optimism towards future conditions enjoyed by every demographic except low income and older New Yorkers who held steady."
