No mass gathering law for Kinderhook

Emilia Teasdale reports in The Columbia Paper that Kinderhook Mayor Jim Dunham won't push for law on mass gatherings in the village. Discussions about a law arose after a large protest in front of Congressperson John Faso (R-Kinderhook) district office and home in the village. “I don’t think we’ll pursue that,” Dunham said at the March 8 town meeting. He said two large and two small protests in front of Faso's office have “gone peacefully and safely,” and that people have the right to assemble. Stuart Peckner, who owns a business next door to Faso's office, said, “It’s only a matter of time…we’re going to [have a] tragedy in the village” with someone hit by a car at a protest.
