Greene County partners with Arc on new transportation system
Katie Kocijanski is reporting in The Daily Mail a new countywide public transportation system will be available to Greene County residents beginning next month. The system will operate as a partnership between the county and Ulster-Greene Arc. All Ulster-Greene Arc routes will be open to the public as of June 1. Greene County Transit will offer five daily routes, Monday through Friday, plus a Catskill shuttle run. The system will also offer daily routes, including one to Hunter on Wednesday and another to Windham on Friday. Director of Greene County Economic Development, Tourism and Planning, Warren Hart, said the merger with Arc had been in the works for a while. He said public feedback on the system is not only encouraged, it is needed. Hart said seven new buses will be operated by Arc, and all the buses will come equipped with a wheelchair lift for handicapped accessibility, two-way radios, dual GPS systems, back-up cameras, an internal security camera system and a public address system. The transit system’s website will launch at the beginning of June. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
