Jan 07, 2017 11:09 am
Paul Grondahl reports in The Albany Times Union that activists in Albany are planning a companion protest Jn. 21 to those planned in Washington D.C. and New York City. The "Inaugurate Resistance" protest includes a workshop, a march down Washington Avenue, and a demonstration and speeches in front of the Capitol. "We realize we all can't go to New York City or Washington, D.C. We wanted our voices heard as we stand up to the Trump agenda. It's an echo response to the other marches taking place," said Jamaica Miles, lead organizer for the Capital Region of Citizen Action of New York, a grass-roots activist group. Other groups organizing the protest include Women Against War, the Working Families Party, Saratoga United, Capital District Coalition Against Islamophobia, Bernie Sanders Network of the Capital Region, Albany County Central Federation of Labor, and North Star Interfaith Peace Walk.
