Hudson Amtrak station remains third busiest in the state
Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Hudson Amtrak station is the third busiest in the state, according to statistics recently released by the railroad. Between October 2016 and September 2017, the station served nearly 218,000 riders, a 5.8 percent increase from last year, according to the Columbia County Tourism Department. Statewide only Manhattan's Penn Station and the Albany-Rensselaer station served more riders in a one-year period than Hudson. Columbia County Tourism Department Administrator Ann Cooper attributed the high traffic at the Hudson station to the city’s population and its proximity to the New York metropolitan area. Many passengers are commuters working in New York City or Albany, she said. Tourism made a slight contribution to the increase, Cooper said. A total of 24 trains stop at the Hudson station daily, an Amtrak spokesman said. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
