MidHudson News reports that book banning in schools has come to the Hudson Valley. The Wappingers Central School District in Dutchess County has removed “Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maria Kobabe from a shelf at the John Jay High School Library after a single complaint from Pat Whalen on behalf of “Concerned Parents and Grandparents; Moms for Liberty.” Superintendent Dr. Dwight Bonk approved the book banning because, he claims, graphic depictions of sexually explicit images.
