Book banning comes to Hudson Valley

MidHudson News reports that book banning in schools has come to the Hudson Valley. The Wappingers Central School District in Dutchess County has removed “Gender Queer: A Memoir” by Maria Kobabe from a shelf at the John Jay High School Library after a single complaint from Pat Whalen on behalf of “Concerned Parents and Grandparents; Moms for Liberty.” Superintendent Dr. Dwight Bonk approved the book banning because, he claims, graphic depictions of sexually explicit images. Conservatives across the country are banning books in school libraries, but this is the first recent effort in the Hudson Valley. Read more about this story at MidHudson News.
