More COVID-19 cases in Greene County
Oct 03, 2020 12:33 am
Sarah Trafton reports for Columbia-Greene Media that there has been a small outbreak of coronavirus cases in Greene County. The Greenville Central School District reported its first COVID-19 case on Oct. 2, with sixth-grade students changing to fully remote classes for the next two weeks. The total number of cases in Greene County went from five to 13, between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2. And on Oct. 1, the Greene County Office Building in Catskill was closed until Oct. 5 after a building and grounds employee there tested positive. All this came, coincidentally, as the president of the United States caught COVID-19 and was taken to a military hospital. Greenville schools Superintendent Tammy Sutherland sent a letter to parents on Oct. 2, “The district is working closely with Greene County Department of Health and following all guidelines provided by them,” she wrote. “They will take the lead role in any further steps that may be necessary with additional testing or contact tracing.” New York's testing positivity rate has broken the one percent threshold recently, after a long run below, with 1.34 percent positive test result rate reported Oct. 2.
