Pittsfield's Whitney Center for the Arts vandalized
Jul 16, 2020 2:30 pm
Christopher Parker is reporting for The Berkshire Eagle a break-in at the Whitney Center for the Arts in Pittsfield, Mass., involved extensive vandalism and possible theft, according to founding executive director Ghazi Kazmi. A person or persons entered the building over the past weekend and defaced nearly every room, scattering art and office supplies all over the floor. Kazmi said given the state of the space, he cannot be sure if anything was stolen. "We don't even know what's working, what's not, what art is missing. It's chaos," he said. The building also suffered significant water damage after the vandals left the water running in the bathtubs still located in the historic 19th century mansion. "Right now, our goal is to dry the building up and get the moisture out," Kazmi said. The investigation is ongoing. Read the full story in The Berkshire Eagle.
