Trump likely lying about Cuomo standing him up
Feb 09, 2020 11:56 pm
Joseph Spector reports for the Democrat and Chronicle that there is no doubt about one thing: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to meet with President Donald Trump, after his Department of Homeland Security temporarily barred state residents from joining Global Entry and similar “Trusted Traveler Programs,” that allow quicker entry through borders and airport lines. After, that, though, no one agrees on this proposed meeting. Trump started a spat, as he often does, on Twitter with Gov. Cuomo, claiming Feb. 8 that, "He just canceled. Very hard to work with New York — So stupid. All they do is sue me all the time!" Cuomo released a statement that said, "There was never a meeting scheduled to be canceled. Still waiting for a day and time to have a real meeting to have a substantive discussion about these serious issues," There is some evidence that it may be Trump, not Cuomo, who is lying. About the same time of Trump's accusation, Cuomo was supposed to address the Democratic Governor's Association, making it unlikely that he would set a conflicting appointment. And The Washington Post has chronicled over 15,000 lies from the President since he took office in 2017. "My office requested a meeting with Trump to discuss why he continues to attack NYS, hurting all New Yorkers — Democrats and Republicans— with the SALT tax increase, Gateway, LaGuardia, Second Ave Subway and now by impeding airport and border crossings with his political revocation of the TTP," Cuomo said.
