Greene GOP endorses Kusminsky

Sarah Trafton is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the Greene County Republican Committee has endorsed retired state police investigator Pete Kusminsky in the upcoming county sheriff race. However, Diana Benoit of Cairo, another retired state police investigator, said she intends to force a Republican primary. “I always knew I’d have to go to primary,” Benoit said. “So we’re moving forward.” The committee nominated Marilyn Farrell for Greene County clerk and Richard Vigilo and Paul Seney for Greene County coroner. Greene County Republican Committee Chairman Brent Bogardus said, by winning the nomination, Kusminsky will now have the Republican committee’s help in circulating petitions and collecting signatures. As for Benoit's decision to primary Kusminsky, Bogardus said, “It is her right but that doesn’t mean it’s right to do. As a member of the committee, she should respect the outcome.” Candidates must submit their petitions to the Board of Elections between April 1 and April 4.
