Report: Columbia-Greene 'good investment'

Susan Campriello writes in The Daily Mail a report released Mon., May 21, provided some insight into the economic impact of Columbia-Greene Community college on the region. The study, conducted by Idaho-based Economic Modeling Specialists Inc, looked at each of the State University of New York campuses. According to the report, CGCC operations generates approximately $11.6 million in income for people in Columbia and Greene counties, and spending by non-local students contributes $5.8 million to the local economy. College spokesman Allen Kovler said the report highlights the economic benefits of the school and of keeping skilled workers in the local area. Kovler anticipates employment opportunities for CGCC students will increase as technology-based industry grows in the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley, Campriello writes.
