Greene lawmakers to reconsider jail bond resolution

Daniel Zuckerman is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Greene County lawmakers will once again consider a resolution to authorize $44 million in serial bonds to finance construction of a new county jail. The measure was defeated 10 to 4 in November. Greene County Legislator Aidan O'Connor, Democrat of Durham, made the motion to reconsider the resolution during the legislature's regular meeting December 20. Lawmakers voted unanimously to take up on the matter on March 21. That timeframe gives officials sufficient time to study and present any alternative solutions to building a new jail, O’Connor said. “This is a procedural vote only,” Greene County Administrator Shaun Groden said. “It does not mean we’re going to build a jail, it does not mean we’re going to bond.” Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
