Price Chopper says it will stop using single-use plastic bags
Jul 21, 2020 6:00 am
WRGB-TV is reporting grocery chain Price Chopper has announced it will no longer offer disposable, single-use plastic bags in its New York stores, citing concerns about the environment. In the statement, Price Chopper said the change would be effective August 1. The store is advising customers to bring their own reusable bag, or to purchase one from the store. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed New York's single-use plastic bag ban into law in 2019, making the law effective in 2020. It requires shoppers to bring reusable bags for groceries and other purchases. Although the law technically went into effect February 1, it has yet to be enforced.
