Construction projects slow traffic
May 09, 2019 7:55 am
It is spring, and there are several local road construction projects causing delays. Columbia-Greene Media reports that there is roadwork on Route 9W in Greene County in both Catskill and Coxsackie. A stretch of about 1,600 feet of Route 9W in Catskill between Route 23A and Boulevard Avenue in Catskill will be repaved this week, and a 1.1-mile section in Coxsackie between Mansion Street and the overpass above the New York State Thruway beginning May 13. “On both segments, motorists should allow for extra time in their travels and expect to see weekday daytime lane shifts and lane reductions with flagging personnel as needed,” according to a travel advisory from DOT. The Catskill work should end by May 17 and the Coxsackie project by May 24. The New York State Bridge Authority is also working on the Rip Van Winkle Bridge through May 26, with narrow lanes only 10'6" wide slowing traffic between Columbia and Greene counties. In the Town of Nassau, in Rensselaer County, Route 21 (Dunham Hollow Road) has been closed this week for construction. There is also currently work on the Taconic State Parkway northbound between NY 82 in Taghkanic and Post Hill Road, with the right lane closed through September 6, according to 511ny.org.
