Cuomo backs Gladd in 43rd district state senate election

Aug 09, 2018 1:01 pm
Rachel Silberstein reports in Capitol Confidential that Democrat Aaron Gladd got the endorsement Aug. 9 from Governor Andrew Cuomo, in his election for the 43rd State Senate District, which includes Columbia County and parts of Rensselaer, Washington, and Saratoga counties. Republican Kathy Marchione currently holds the seat, but is retiring. Republicans are backing Halfmoon Councilwoman Daphne Jordan in the election against Gladd, who is an army veteran in Afghanistan with a master of public administration degree from the Nelson Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy. “Aaron is a talented leader and combat veteran who served our nation with pride and distinction as a Platoon Leader in the U.S. Army,” Cuomo said in a statement. “His commitment to service and to the people of New York is second to none and I know he will fight for our shared values in the State Senate. Whether it’s championing family leave, upstate revitalization, keeping taxes low and wages high – Aaron is the best person to represent the people of the 43rd District.” Read the full story in Capitol Confidential.
