Berkshire County museums reopening

Jul 14, 2020 5:30 am
Jack Lyons is reporting for The Berkshire Eagle the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass., reopened to the public July 12. As COVID-19 continues to grip the country, Clark Director Olivier Meslay hopes the reopened Institute can serve as "a healing place." Hand sanitizer stations now dot the galleries, and the museum is following state guidelines requiring the use of masks while indoors. The Clark has also limited the number of visitors to 25 percent of the building's capacity, considerably less than the 40 percent permissible under Massachusetts state guidelines. And while the performing arts scene in the Berkshires has closed down this summer, museums in Berkshire County are welcoming visitors again. In addition to the Clark, the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge and MASS MoCA in North Adams reopened over the weekend. State guidelines require museums to book advance tickets for all visitors. Guests are given a specific time to arrive, but they are able to stay as long as they like once they are inside. Read the full story in the Berkshire Eagle.
