Radio News: Russia searches independent radio station

Jul 06, 2016 11:02 pm
The New York Times reported July 5 that Russian intelligence officers searched the office of Russia's most prominent independent news radio station. Russian Federal Security Services officers searched Ekho Moskvy for correspondence with Andrei Piontkovsky, who writes online posts for Ekho. The state's press office said it was investigating calls to violate the country's territorial integrity. Russia Today said the station is now partly owned by the state energy giant Gazprom, but maintains a largely anti-Kremlin editorial line.
