Catskills ski center snubbed

Lissa Harris at The Watershed Post reports that on Jan. 23 Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced $20 million in major upgrades to the state-run Whiteface and Gore ski facilities, but left out the state-run Belleayre Ski Center in Ulster County. “As I have done every year since Belleayre was absorbed by the Olympic Regional Development Authority, I will continue to fight to assure that Belleayre and the community receive a fair share of ORDA’s capital investment. That was the promise made when the Legislature allowed Belleayre to come under the ORDA umbrella. I intend to require ORDA and the governor to honor that promise," said state Assemblyperson Kevin Cahill, a Democrat who represents most of Ulster County told The Daily Freeman.
