Four Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk students accused of making terroristic threats

Dec 17, 2018 6:45 am
Malllory Moench is reporting for the Times Union four Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk students were arrested and charged over the weekend with allegedly making terroristic threats. The charges were filed after the students posted two videos on Instagram that acted out a school shooting scenario that included fake blood, weapons and racial slurs, according to the Albany County Sheriff's Office. Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said the videos were "very graphic, very racist and horrifying as far as mocking a school shooting." Another Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk student saw the posts reported and sent them to the school district, December 14. The following day police arrested the four students and searched their homes, but found only bb guns and fake weapons, Apple said. Two of the students were 14 and 15 years old and a 10-year-old played the victim. The age of the student behind the camera is unknown. All four students were suspended indefinitely and charged with making terrorist threats, a felony. "It wasn't something that was just funny," Apple said. "Whatever their intentions were, we may never know, it was a horrifying, graphic video filled with extreme racism." Read the full story at the Times Union.
