Nick Reisman reports at New York State of Politics that Gov. Andrew Cuomo still won't say why the ammunition database mandated by the 2013 SAFE Act has never come to pass. “The SAFE Act is working 100 percent,” Cuomo said Aug. 7, answering a question about why the ammunition database has never been created. “First of all, the ban of assault weapons in and of itself is a culture change and a system change. These are all assault weapons.” In 2015, Cuomo and the then-Republican majority in the State Senate agreed to delay the the database to develop technology to make it possible. Now it is four years later, and Cuomo won't say a word about the ammunition database passed in a state law that he signed in 2013. Read more about this story at New York State of Politics.
